As our first big 500 Women in Medicine initiative, we seek funding to build a fully integrated and expanded database of women in medicine to the existing Request a Woman Scientist platform and provide a vital free tool to increase the visibility of women in STEM. Our goal is to raise $75,000 and the funding support will:
Provide an open-access, easy to use tool with search functionality to facilitate recruitment of women physicians for fellowships and other career-advancement opportunities;
Provide an easy-to-use resource that allows journalists, conference organizers, and others to easily identify women who are experts in particular medical subspecialties;
Strengthen the existing network of more than 7500 women in science who are already part of the Request a Woman Scientist platform.
Our named levels of sponsorship are:
$10,000 or more: Elizabeth Blackwell - First woman in US to earn an MD (1849)
$5,000 - $9,999: Rebecca Crumpler - First African American woman to earn an MD (1864)
$1,000-$4,999: Mary Edwards Walker - First US female surgeon and first female surgeon in the army (1855)
$500-$999: Susan La Flesche Picotte - First Native American woman to earn an MD (1889)
Funding support will be publicly recognized on the 500 Women Scientists website (with the option to remain anonymous) and we will provide a digital supporter badge for the donor’s website.
All donations are tax-deductible and help us to grow our organization to realize our mission.
