Pod meetings are an opportunity for our members to communicate, share their experiences and support each other. We operate through the JEDI lenses: Justice, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, and we expect all our Pods across the globe to also prioritize these values. This means that all activities and decisions performed by the Pod members need to center on those who have been most historically marginalized. Pod meetings should be planned so all members feel as safe and welcomed as possible. For example, start every meeting with members sharing pronouns voluntarily and acknowledge the indigenous land where the meeting is taking place. Additionally, it is helpful to vary the time, location, and type of meeting. For example, hold meetings in different times of the day, week, and regions around your city/town to make commuting feasible for all. We also recommend that pods avoid holding meetings in bars or places that are not accessible for parents with children. Always make sure that the places you meet are accessible for people with disabilities, both visible and invisible. Because many among our members experience challenges in their scientific careers or endeavors as a result of their intersecting identities, our goal is to provide a safe space for these communities. As such, we ask that our allies sit out of closed Pod meetings (and/or events put on specifically for members only).
