First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who has supported us or been a part of the 500 Women Scientists movement. Each and every voice has helped build our organization from the ground up.
On Saturday morning, 16 members of the 500 Women Scientists leadership team and advisory board met at the University of Colorado Sustainability Innovation Lab. We defined who we are as an organization, what we stand for, and what we want to accomplish in the coming weeks, months, and years. In the span of 4 hours, we refined our mission and set an ambitious vision for our future.
OUR MISSION IS TO SERVE SOCIETY BY MAKING SCIENCE OPEN, INCLUSIVE, AND ACCESSIBLE.
OUR VISION: 500WS WILL BE THE FOREMOST ORGANIZATION FOR THE TRANSFORMATION OF LEADERSHIP, DIVERSITY, AND PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT IN SCIENCE.
Following our leadership meeting on June 3rd, we celebrated with The Cairn Project in Boulder CO with hikes, bike rides, yoga in the park, and a big party, marking the beginning of a new chapter for our organization. There were concurrent celebrations all over the world, from London to Washington DC to Salt Lake City Utah! Check out our gallery of photos from the weekend.
Stay tuned for new initiatives from our pods and strike teams. And help us continue to grow, strengthen, and make our vision the new reality in science!
