Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together. And great things are not accidental, but must certainly be willed. - Vincent van Gogh
This week, hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico and a giant earthquake hit Mexico, just after hurricane Irma swept through the Caribbean. These are beyond trying times across the world and it can be hard to know how to help. This may be a place to start, though if you know of local organizations we as a 500 Women Scientists community can support, please leave suggestions in the comments and we will update this post.
It is all the small things that each one of us does that makes the difference - helping our neighbors in times of need, speaking up for climate change action and health care, being role models to the young girls in our communities, and remembering to appreciate the progress (however small) we are making. Keep it up!
