Resolve to be a mentor!
Make mentoring part of your new year's resolutions. Set a goal to find a mentor to help you achieve your educational or career goals or find a mentee to whom you can provide guidance with educational transitions, career exploration, and getting established in your research field. Sign up to be a mentor or mentee with the National Research Mentoring Network and look for a mentor training session near you. You can also apply to be a mentor to elementary through high school students, teachers, or early career scientists through the New York Academy of Sciences. If you are already in a mentoring relationship as a mentor or mentee, consider drafting a mentoring contract to formalize your goals and expectations.
