Take Action Tuesday

This is the last week of #BlackHistoryMonth, but that doesn't mean we will stop promoting or showcasing the awesome people of color in academia.  In the same vein, Dr Kevin Nadal has started a hashtag on Twitter  #ThisIsWhatAProfessorLooksLike. Encouraging professors to post pictures of themselves with little bits of information describing who they are. Dr. Nadal says "Perhaps if more of us knew that there were actual professors who looked like them or loved like them, they would know that it would be possible to become one." Sometimes you need to see someone that looks like you in order to follow that path. Let's focus our efforts this week on amplifying #WOCinSTEM & #BlackandSTEM in whatever way and on whatever medium suites you!

  1. Retweet #ThisIsWhatAProfessorLooksLike, join the conversation, and maybe add your own story to the conversation.

  2. Promote #WOCinSTEM & #BlackandSTEM on twitter, or write a blog post about someone who inspires you, or send them a thank you gift!

  3. Revisit our previous actions celebrating #BlackHistoryMonth HERE & HERE and identify how you can extend our actions this month to every month of the year!
