Hi Friends. We have been together just a year, but it somehow feels like many years. Partly because this year was a bit rough, but mostly because our community has been so open and welcoming. We have big plans for 2018, and we want you all involved. Make sure you 1. Sign up for our monthly Newsletter, 2. Join or start a pod, and 3. Stay up to date by regularly checking our website, twitter and facebook. Enjoy the weekend!
Weekly Wrap-Up
On November 4-5, we held our second board meeting in Washington DC and celebrated one year of 500 Women Scientists. The goal of our meeting was to identify how to actualize our mission in 2018, ensure all aspects of our organization are inclusive, and better organize ourselves to be sustainable through many more years. This will require input from all of us- leaders, advisors, pods and members. So if you want to take action, form a pod, if you have a pod, go to a meeting, and if you want more contact us!
Weekly Wrap-UP
Happy November friends. We are so excited to reclaim the month with you. And we start with our 1 year celebration this weekend! Gather together with your pods and celebrate 1 year of 500 WOmen Scientists. If you happen to be in DC, please join us!
Weekly Wrap Up
Over the last week, the March for Science received a new flurry of media attention, sparked by an open letter from MfS volunteers. If you aren’t familiar with what is happening, you can read the full story in The Atlantic, The Washington Post, and Gizmodo’s Earther. Before the March, 500 Women Scientists dissolved our partnership because we no longer saw our mission aligning with that of the MfS, though we still marched last April. Our mission remains plain, simple, and ambitious — to serve society by making science open, inclusive, and accessible. One year after our launch, we remain committed to fulfilling that mission, to remake science into an enterprise for all. Our membership is central to fulfilling that vision. So with that in mind, here’s our week in review!

Weekly Wrap-up
Every day of every week brings a new challenge. Our hearts are broken after the senseless terror attack in Las Vegas on Monday. And today, we are enraged by the renewed attack on women's reproductive rights. Sometimes it feels like the fight is coming from all sides. And we must continue to fight. If you need support this week, we encourage you to reach out to your pod. We have created our network for this very reason - for support and strength. Together, we are stronger.

Weekly Wrap-Up
It is all the small things that each one of us does that will make the difference - helping our neighbors in times of need, speaking up for climate change and health care, being role models to the young girls in our communities, and remembering to appreciate the progress (however small) we are making. Enjoy the weekend friends!
Weekly Wrap-Up
Happy Friday friends. You all have been working so hard this September, getting back to into school life, raising money for those affected by the hurricanes, defending DACA, and building an impressive resistance ALL while supporting each other. We are so proud of our community and the progress we are making together. Enjoy your weekend and I recommend scrolling through these photos from Saturn for a out of this world mental break.
Weekly Wrap-Up
This week our actions are focused on DACA; we will not stand silently by. Please read our Take action Tuesday for resources and suggestions on how you can take action (ps call your lawmakers). If you have questions there are a few good pieces summarizing what is going on here, here, and here. And if you are directly or indirectly affected and want to share your story, send us an email - you have our full support.
Weekly Wrap-Up
Our hearts go out to those affected by Hurricane Harvey and we are in awe of how Texas communities are coming together to help each other. If you have the capacity, we recommend donating to Port Light, Coalition for the Homeless, or something from this inclusive list.
As the summer winds down and our fall schedules become a chaotic mess, remember to take time to appreciate what you have accomplished for the week, month or even the year. Even the little things count.
Weekly Wrap-Up
Jane and I just wrapped up an awesome week at the Ecological Society of America conference. We literally met hundreds of women who were excited about the organization and want to get involved. We also recognize there is still so much work to be done-within ESA and science, and we are moving forward with concrete actions to help our society be more diverse and inclusive.
Weekly Wrap-Up
The summer writing campaign is off to a strong start. If you have not already done so, pull together your local pods to identify science topics that are relevant in your communities and join our campaign. And if you want another excuse for a pod get-together, organize one around the solar eclipse August 21, 2017. Listen about, read about and view the eclipse together. Share your activities with us on social media.
